Directed footage: a clip, a commercial or a production with a script. More preparation than a walkthrough on location.
A production or clip has a plan. What the viewer must understand at the end, which images carry that, and how long it lasts.
We write or sharpen the idea into a shooting script. Locations, light and who is on camera are in it. On the day we film that plan, not a loose impulse.
A commercial is short and clear. A clip can be longer and more musical. We say which of the two your question actually is, before we set up a crew you do not need.
Editing belongs to the production. The story is finished in the edit, not only on set.
