Hosting is where it stays when we are done building. A site, an app or software you use daily. We set up that environment and maintain it if you want.
Much hosting is a subscription nobody looks at until the site goes down. We treat it as part of the work: the right size, updates, backups, and a phone number when something goes wrong.
That can be the site we build ourselves, an app that must go live, or software running with you or with us. Mail, domains and certificates belong if they are tied to the same environment.
You do not need to know server names. Upfront we agree three things: what we do when the site or software fails, how often we make a backup, and who you call when it goes wrong.

Four things that need a home
Each component below is its own piece of work.
A site, the software behind it, management of the server and stack, and storage in your own cloud. Sometimes one layer is enough. Sometimes they belong together.
Component
Websites
Hosting for websites: fast, with backups, a certificate and layered security. The layer depends on what the site does. For sites we build and for sites we take over.
A brochure, a Laravel site or a taken-over WordPress install does not get the same server or the same security. We set up certificates, updates and backups, and scan for malware and changes that should not be there. Zero-tolerance mode can be part of that when the site does not constantly write files itself. Moving from another host we plan, including a check after the site is over.

Component
Apps and software
Hosting for web apps, desktop apps that need a server, and in-house software. Separate environment for test and live.
Beyond the files this has a database, sometimes a background job, and a test environment separate from what users see. We host what we build ourselves and take over existing software when the stack is maintainable. Logs and a database backup belong to management. If the stack is not, we say so before we take the keys.

Infrastructure
Infrastructure is management of the whole server and stack: operating system, web server, language, database, processes, updates and access. So the site or software has a home someone maintains.
We manage the machine and everything that must run on it. That is Linux or another server, nginx or a comparable web server, PHP, Node or what the stack asks for, the database, and the processes that keep the app in the air. Updates, users, firewall and deploys belong. We include mail and domains when they are tied to the same server, but the work is the stack, not just a mailbox.

Component
Storage and private cloud
Storage and a private cloud for documents, photos and backups. Your files, on a server we manage, with access you control.
Documents and images should not live on one laptop only. We set up accounts, folders and rights, and handle what stops when someone leaves the team. The disk itself gets a backup. Size follows what you store: minutes from an association are different from an archive full of footage. If an existing service fits better, we say so.
